'Japan\'s playful and avant-garde take on Victorian-era clothing, known as Lolita, has created a vibrant fashion subculture that started on the streets of Harajuku and has spread overseas. Recently, Japan Society hosted a lecture featuring the former Kawaii Ambassador Misako Aoki, regarding the origins, culture and development of Lolita.
