'Spanish/Nat The world of fashion has come to the Cuban capital Havana for the first time with a show by Paco Rabanne. A central hotel was filled to capacity as Cuban models took to the catwalk. The event has proven so successful that organisers hope other top international designers will follow suit and choose to hold future shows on the island. Some would say Havana is the perfect backdrop for the world of fashion. With its sprawling colonial elegance, the city welcomed representatives from the world of glamour for the island\'s first ever fashion show. The designer who chose such a set for his collection is Paco Rabanne. Hundreds filled a hotel for the one-off event which many hope could mark a new wave of shows to the island. SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) \"This is a very important moment for Cuban fashion, and it seems to me it signifies a positive time in the world of fashion.\" SUPER CAPTION: Rafael de Leon, Cuban Fashion Designer Paco Rabanne himself is currently on a world tour promoting a new book and was unable to attend the event. But this did not do anything to quell the excitement. The show was presented solely with Cuban models from the Moda La Maison fashion house. For many of them, the show was a dream come true. I just watched a Paco Rabanne fashion show on video and when I was trying on the clothes I was delighted to see it was the same clothes as those in the video worn by all those famous models.\" SUPER CAPTION: Odette Jimenez, Model SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) \"For me it is an honour to take part in a Paco Rabanne show because I consider him to be a designer of a very high level, and I am proud, as a Cuban to wear these clothes. This show has been in the planning stages ever since. Judging by the success of the event, organisers hope other designers will be inspired to use Havana to display their future collections.
