SOUNDBITE Ivana Trump: \"Elie Saab was just, absolutely spectacular. Especially this collection. You know, I\'ve been coming here for years and years and I am a buyer of the Elie. I think this year, the ladies were like little flowers. You can see the back drop was a garden, beautiful, you know, flower garden. A lot of beautiful pastel colours, a lot of beading, a lot cut work, a lot of transparency. But we can overcome that with a little slip... or so... and I just loved some turquoise dresses that were there. There was one black, and I usually don\'t like black in the summer because you know, I like to be in the pastel colours. We are in black all winter long. But really, it was outstanding.\" 6. SOUNDBITE Elie Saab: \"This time, I chose for my inspiration Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy because in this period of time the woman are like... too much woman... elegant... belt, gloves, bag. It was like dolls in this time. For this it is that I like this period for this sensation.\" ELIE SAAB PAYS TRIBUTE TO STARS OF THE 50\'S & 60\'S Lebanese designer Elie Saab unveiled a haute couture collection today (25th January 2006) at Paris fashion week that paid tribute to Audrey Hepburn, Brigette Bardot and Jackie Kennedy. The show was full of premiere-perfect creations with embroidered bouquets and cascades of flounces on dresses that appeared to be held in place with simple silk bows. The colour palette married white, bronze, metallic and black with vibrant turquoise, greens and pinks. Featherweight fabrics such as organza tulle, lace or crochet were used throughout. Known for his combining of Middle Eastern detail with European fashion, Saab\'s designs are popular with Hollywood stars like Halle Berry (who wore a Saab concoction the night of her Oscar win in 2002), Mary J. Blige, Calista Flockhart and Mena Suvari. In 1982, while still a still teenager, Saab opened his first atelier in Beirut under his own name. It was just the beginning for the talented designer and during the 80s his reputation spread around the Middle East - with the regions super wealthy elite and princesses travelling to his atelier in Beirut to commission his sought-after evening and wedding gowns. Since 1997, Saab has been putting on his runway show in Paris and Milan and his clothes are sold around the globe.
